APRIL EVENTS:

Tom Angleberger
Fake Mustache

When: April 18 @ 6 pm
Where: BookPeople

Come one, come all to BookPeople at 6PM on Wednesday, April 18th in your mustachioed best to greet Tom Angleberger and hear all about his wacky and hilarious new book called Fake Mustache: How Jackie O’Rodeo and Her Wonder Horse (and Some Nerdy Guy) Saved the World.

Tom, who is best known for his Bluebonnet Award winning book, The Strange Case of Origami Yoda and its sequel Darth Paper Strikes Back will be speaking and signing books. Let’s just hope he leaves the Heidelberg Handlebar Number Seven mustache at home. It grants you Powers, and with all of you wearing your own mustaches, there’s only so much Power one event can take.

And for the celebration, the fine folks from Austin’s Pizza will be here with their tasty slices of pizza pie.  It’s a not-to-be-missed event!

MAY EVENTS:

HERMAN PARISH
Amelia Bedelia’s First Vote

When: May 1 @ 6 pm
Where: BookPeople

Amelia Bedelia, our favorite mixed-up maid, was once an adorably confused little girl. For more than forty-five years, we haven’t known just how adorable she was back then, but now, thanks to Herman Parish, we can read brand new stories all about Amelia Bedelia growing up! And today at BookPeople, you can meet grown-up Amelia Bedelia herself! She’ll be here to pose for pictures and to listen along with us when Herman Parish reads the latest tale from Amelia’s childhood.

In Amelia Bedelia’s First Vote, Amelia is sure she will love everything about school election day. The fun choices! Having a voice! Running for office! Amelia Bedelia can’t wait. What could be better? Hooray for school! Hooray for elections! Hooray for voting!

HERMAN PARISH is the nephew of Amelia Bedelia’s creator, Peggy Parish, and the author of many books about Amelia Bedelia.

SARA PENNYPACKER
Summer of the Gypsy Moths

When: May 6 @ 1 pm
Where: BookPeople

Stella loves living with Great-aunt Louise in her big old house near the water on Cape Cod for many reasons, but mostly because Louise likes routine as much as she does, something Stella appreciates since her mom is, well, kind of unreliable. So while Mom “finds herself,” Stella fantasizes that someday she’ll come back to the Cape and settle down. The only obstacle to her plan? Angel, the foster kid Louise has taken in. Angel couldn’t be less like her name—she’s tough and prickly, and the girls hardly speak to each other.

But when tragedy unexpectedly strikes, Stella and Angel are forced to rely on each other to survive, and they learn that they are stronger together than they could have imagined. And over the course of the summer they discover the one thing they do have in common: dreams of finally belonging to a real family.

Sara Pennypacker is the author of the award-winning, New York Times bestselling Clementine chapter-book series as well as the picture books Pierre in Love and Sparrow Girl.
